NCT, the UK’s leading parenting charity, will be open to support the increasing number of new parents expected this Christmas. Estimates show that despite national fears of a recession and the rising cost of living, more babies are being born now than in the last 15 years.

In light of yesterday's pre-budget report, Chief Executive, NCT, Belinda Phipps said: "on behalf of many parents in the UK, the nCT welcomes the focus on supporting families in hte pre-budget report out today.....While we we are pleased with many of the provisions in today's report...we believe more could be done to combat the unacceptable rates of child poverty in the UK.

Best Beginnings, in partnership with the Department of Health, has introduced a new breastfeeding dvd to support health professionals and mothers. Patricia Wise, NCT Breastfeeding Tutor and Best Beginnings Stakeholder Group Member, says: "NCT welcomes the release of From Bumps to Breastfeeding from Best Beginnings. Over the past fifty years NCT workers have encouraged and supported women to breastfeed their babies and the new DVD is an exciting development.

NCT, the UK's leading parenting charity, is giving away a free 'Mums the Word' DVD during Parents' Week 20-26th October. Designed to help new mums adjust to life with a baby, the film offers a realistic portrayal of what it's like to become a mum and offers help and support to cope confidently with the changes that a new baby brings.

The Campaign to End Child Poverty is a coalition of more than 130 organisations working to eradicate child poverty in the UK. NCT has been a supporter of this campaign for over a year.
